Simple and user-friendly antivirus with antispyware

VIPRE Antivirus is a security suite designed to be lightweight and easy on resources, so you can be protected while maintaining PC performance.

This application protects your PC from viruses and spyware as you work. It's a fairly lightweight application compared to the competition, making it ideal for netbooks and lower powered laptops. The interface is clear, simple and easy to use, so it's ideal for non-technically minded people!

VIPRE Antivirus includes all the functions normally offered by security suites. You can perform a variety of system scans, from a quick light scan to a lengthy deep one, and you can schedule scans automatically too. It also comes with a virtualization system that allows you to test suspicious files in a safe box. There's also a file eraser, history cleaner and PC explorer.

Probably due to its lightweight nature, VIPRE Antivirus isn't quite as deep an application as some people might like but most people will be happy using it. Like may other programs of this type, when VIPRE Antivirus performs scans, it often highlights cookies as potentially dangerous files. While this is sometimes true, it doesn't discriminate between a malicious and useful cookie.

VIPRE Antivirus is a simple and lightweight security suite that may be missing some advanced features, but is sufficient for most users.

Not worth the money. After much research I paid for a years worth of Vipre, having had Trend Micro PC Cillin for many years. Everything went well until I got a malware. I did all the usual things but eventually contacted customer support. 1st guy basically ran a deep scan and pronounced everything was all right, ,< NOT > Contacted support again and got a different guy this time- same MO ; ran a deep scan and said everything good to go - both polite people but at a similar knowledge level to me -and that ain't saying much ! complained again and was told the case was being elevated to level 2 and that it would take up to 48 hrs to hear back from them. 4 days later an E-mail arrives asking me for my product key as they can't find it- why they want it I don't know as they can gain access to my PC by remote viewer when I allow them. Tomorrow will be 1 week from initial contact- if it wasn't for the fact that I got tired of waiting and went and found Hitman Pro -which took care of the problem I would still be waiting ! Promises are cheap to make when advertising your product; but backing them up in a timely fashion is what sorts out the pros from the amateurs- this company rates a 2 out of 10 for their performance ! Enough said !!

Fantastic!. Got this software today and previously i had AVG 2011 and Norton 2011 and they were both good but somehow i didnt feel that protected. AVG was soo heavy on my system and a major slowdown was seen and felt. Norton was light and i liked the way it scanned fast, but i was then told it skipped files so thats why it was so fast at scanning. I didn't like this so i got Vipre because it said it would be light on the system. Wel this is very true believe it or not, even during a scan i was able to work on the internet, type documents etc and i never even felt a slowdown. Plus i had viruses on my laptop that AVG and Norton both failed to even detect. The scan is very througher thus ur laptop/pc will be better protected. Thanks Vipre!!! :) Pros: Very light on systemFASTEasy to use Cons: Interface may be a bit to basic for advanced usersSupport isnt great.

is it time i upgraded to vipre premium ? ? ? yes, it is. I bought viper premium it after seeing screenshots here: [Link removed by Editor]the system resources of my pc run smoothly with viper premium. I like the firewall and it is not annoying like other firewalls are. I open up many browsers on my pc, multiple windows (cause i have 2 screens and lots of space) and still no sign of any slowdown that I would normally get with my other antispyware and antivirus softwarelike i said, i saw screenshots of it and they looked less complicated than other computer security software that i used before (i tried several over the past 6 years, so i have some rudimentary experience on antivirus and antispyware concerns)vipre premium is definitely recommended Pros: works fast, good price, easy to use, easy to follow the instructions, their support people speak american (very important) Cons: none at this time

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
